The Chain That Bound Me

Anonymous said… “How has love changed your life?”:

I need to warn people with the words of C. S Lewis; ‘perversions of the sex instincts are numerous, hard to cure, and frightful’.

At the age of twelve I stumbled on a group of people watching pornography and I stayed to watch. It seemed harmless. It was infrequent till the age sixteen to twenty-five. I couldn’t stay away from it, for more than 3 days. Each time I promised myself I was not going to do it again.

In my quest to overcome this filthy habit, I came across several publications which affirmed and even encouraged it, but it is addictive and leaves a terrible feeling afterward. I could not pray or read my Bible or enjoy the company of Christians. This was not normal behavior.

Demonic strongholds have to be destroyed by prayer. (2 Corinthians 10: 4 states ‘the weapons of warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of stronghold) This must be preceded by the decision to repent and the desire to stop the act. So I prayed often and told God bluntly that I know I got myself into this but I needed Him to deliver me because didn’t want to destroy myself. I prayed often, and fasted, but I sometimes relapsed into it again. These were my main weapons for overcoming this demon. Prayer builds up God’s power and anointing in you. Remember the yoke is destroyed because of the anointing (Isaiah 10: 27). The bigger and stronger the yoke, the heavier anointing you would need!

I installed ‘adult lock’ on my laptop and stopped using other machines that I gave me easily access. I am now clean and whole and enjoying God’s peace and joy and power. I don’t have the urge to watch anymore.

Thank God that still He loved me, always forgave me, and never gave up on me.

In case you’re reading this and are struggling with this I want to pray with you: “Father In heaven please forgive me for my sins. Father, I pray for the desire to stop this habit. I break every addiction by the power of the Holy Spirit. Declare me free Lord, because we were freed by your son Jesus Christ’s precious blood. In Jesus name I am free. Amen.

Your warning is well taken. And your suggested treatment is right on! Pornography is just one more of Satans tools to separate us from God (Leviticus 18:6-23). The bible says "Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways"(Leviticus 18:24). It is just as deadly as any other addiction weather it be drugs(Leviticus 19:26), alcohol(Proverbs 20:1), gambling
(1 Timothy 6:10), or any other compulsions. These are diseases of spiritual depravity. I personaly have seen the most successful recoveries in those that give it to, and trust in, God and his love rather than trusting in medicines, counseling, psychotherapy, rehab, jail or any other "sorcery". God Bless You and thanks for speaking up!
